April has come roaring into Las Vegas with 90-degree temps. But I’m still in a spring kinda mood—thanks to #SpringFlingKidLit! Here’s the inspirational gif and my 137-word story entry. Good luck to all my fellow entrants—read so many awesome stories already!—and happy spring to everyone!

JULES’ TREASURE

“It’s here!”
Jules skipped with her package to the bench by the window.
Barker put his paws on her knee.
“You can have the box, not what’s inside.”
Barker pranced off with his prize.
Meowly sauntered into Jules’ lap.
“You can have this string and paper, not what its tied around.”
Meowly batted at his gifts.
Jules took her treasure to the place she’d chosen under the tree.
The hummingbirds flittered near.
“You can have this later, not just yet.”
The hummingbirds spread the word; Barker helped Jules dig; Meowly guarded their spot.
Jules watered the garden every morning and read in the shade of the tree every afternoon.
“If we all take care of it, we can have it now, and again next spring,” she told them all.
And soon, their buried treasure revealed its jewels.
